The Pan African Agribusiness Apex Chamber (PAAAC) is incorporated as a company Limited by Guarantee in accordance with the provisions of the Ghana Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) administered under the Office of the Registrar of Companies. The PAAAC is established to act as a nonprofit nongovernmental international organization. The current legal structure of the PAAAC enables it to operate in Ghana and also provide institutional support to its members – both international and domestic.
The PAAAC shall have basically two levels of operational structure, these include; the Steering Committee and the Secretariat.
The organizational structure of the PAAAC will be governed by a 21 Member Steering Committee whose members are represented as individuals and also on behalf of selected institutions. Steering Committee members shall be appointed to serve on behalf of their institutions, and not as individuals, and agree to represent the general interests of their sector, including individuals serving in their personal capacity.
The Steering Committee in consultation with the AUC, shall negotiate the needed host agreement and establish the PAAAC Secretariat. In the interim, the Secretariat shall be incubated within an identified host institution for 4 years. In this case the Private Enterprise Federation of Ghana has offered to host the secretariat and shall therefore be the interim secretariat for PAAAC from 1st January 2020 to 31 December 2023.
The Steering Committee shall exhibit oversight responsibility of the PAAAC Secretariat. The Secretariat shall provide support to the Steering Committee and its Sub-committees at the direction of the Steering Committee. Support will include planning and organizing Steering Committee meetings; organizing periodic PAAAC events as determined by the Steering Committee; promoting communication and linkages between the Steering Committee, subcommittees, and members; and developing Africa-wide information sharing tools, including this website.
